Emergency Room (Full-time, Day Shift)

Job Summary: The Nurse Manager-Emergency Room provides administrative, human resource, and financial management for designated area(s) that provide direct and indirect patient care for an age-specific population with a defined scope of service. Ensures areas of responsibility comply with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies, and Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta's (LLUMC-Murrieta) policies, e.g., Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP), Department of Health Services (DHS), and The Joint Commission. Assists Director to develop, implement, and maintain a unit and department-specific performance improvement and patient safety program utilizing tools such as the Six Sigma framework of define, measure, analyze, implement, and control. Participates in strategic planning process and aligns departmental and unit goals and objectives with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Mentors and coaches staff in transforming culture, processes, and clinical practice to meet the demands of cutting-edge health care delivery. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field from an accredited school required or enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program with annual progress reports acceptable. Minimum three years nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in clinical nursing, leadership, administration, education, and staff development required.

Knowledge and Skills: Basic knowledge of healthcare law and finance required. Broad knowledge of quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, medical staff structure, peer review and legal aspects of care. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary for patient care and for reading computer screens; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association required. Other licensure and certification as specified in the unit or department specific Plan for Providing Care.
