Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Athletic Trainer to join our team and play a vital role in the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletes and orthopedic patients. This position offers a unique opportunity to establish and develop an athletic training program at a partnering high school, while also working closely with an Orthopedic Surgeon in both clinical and surgical settings.
The Athletic Trainer will provide clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries under the supervision of a physician and in compliance with Colorado state regulations. Responsibilities include implementing post-operative orthopedic care plans, assisting with in-clinic procedures, and promoting injury prevention and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site athletic training coverage for school-sponsored athletic events, including injury assessment, taping, and post-injury consultation
- Assist physicians and physical therapists with evaluations, treatment plans, and patient care.
- Develop and implement exercise and rehabilitation programs aligned with physician or therapist protocols.
- Monitor and document patient progress, providing education on exercises, health maintenance, and injury prevention.
- Coordinate patient care and communication among medical staff and departments.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including documentation of treatments and communications.
- Support physicians in clinic and operating room settings, including: Casting, splinting, brace fitting, wound care, and bandaging, Assisting with procedures and treatments for musculoskeletal injuries and concussions
- Participate in community education, outreach, and marketing initiatives to promote sports medicine and orthopedic services.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program
- Current Colorado Athletic Trainer License and Board of Certification (BOC) required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with fitness clients or athletes and 1 year of clinical experience.
- Strong knowledge of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and sports medicine practices.
- BLS certification required upon hire.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on your feet for 8–12 hours per day.
- Perform bending, stretching, kneeling, and other physical activities as needed.
- Maintain full range of motion and manual dexterity for equipment and computer use.
- Sustain repetitive motions such as CPR compressions.
