Position Summary 

As a Strategic Business Development Manager at Rekor Systems, you will drive strategic growth within the Traffic and Transportation sector by capturing and developing major public- and private-sector opportunities. Working closely with leadership, solution engineers, and partners, you will expand Rekor’s footprint by aligning advanced transportation technologies with the evolving needs of Federal, State, and local agencies—helping modernize mobility, safety, and infrastructure nationwide.

 

Key Responsibilities (The Contribution)

  • Identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities across Federal, State, and OEM markets in the transportation and infrastructure technology space.
  • Lead the development and execution of capture and win strategies in coordination with sales, solution engineering, and partnership teams.
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with DOTs, integrators, OEMs, and key decision-makers in target regions.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and uncover new product-market fit opportunities to expand Rekor’s presence in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic management, and enforcement solutions.
  • Guide and support proposal development for RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, ensuring tailored, compliant, and compelling submissions.
  • Advise on bid/no-bid, teaming, pricing, and partnership strategies to increase win probability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and Engineering to ensure Rekor’s solutions meet the needs of end users and partners.
  • Manage the business development lifecycle—from market research and opportunity shaping through proposal, contract negotiation, and post-award execution.
  • Track and forecast opportunities, providing accurate data-driven insights to support strategic and revenue planning.
  • Represent Rekor at industry conferences, association meetings, and events to strengthen market presence and brand recognition.

  • Growth in qualified pipeline and new business wins across government and OEM sectors.

  • Expansion of Rekor’s partner network and strategic market reach within targeted territories.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are a results-driven business development leader with deep experience in transportation technology, industrial sensing, and infrastructure markets. You understand the complexities of long-cycle, consultative sales and thrive on building partnerships that transform mobility and safety outcomes.

 

Preferred Background & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in B2B/B2G business development within transportation, ITS, or infrastructure technology markets.
  • Demonstrated success engaging Federal and State agencies, DOTs, OEMs, and system integrators.
  • Proven ability to develop go-to-market strategies and execute full capture lifecycles—from opportunity identification through contract close.
  • Strong knowledge of government procurement, funding, and acquisition processes.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce, SAP, HubSpot) and data-driven pipeline management.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills, with a consultative and technical sales approach.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hunter mentality, focused on growth, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Travel: Up to 25% domestic.
