Department: Clinical Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $40-$47 per hour, commensurate with experience 

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Day Shift)

No weekends or holidays

Location(s): We currently have openings at all of our locations - Roseville, Maplewood, Eagan, Hudson (WI), Lakeville, Farmington, Faribault, Lindstrom, and Sandstone.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work closely with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care and ensure a positive experience for every patient.


This position is ideal for both experienced RNs and recent graduates who have a strong interest in dermatology and aesthetics. Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology procedures.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for dermatology exams and procedures by reviewing medical history and addressing patient concerns.
  • Accompanies provider into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and documents accurately the provider’s encounter with the patient.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
  • Acts as liaison between providers and support staff; mediating issues and problems as necessary.
  • Generates and submits orders as directed by the provider. Provide direct assistance to physicians with surgical and medical procedures, such as excisions, skin biopsies, wart treatments, cosmetic treatments, injectables, etc.
  • Assist providers during Mohs micrographic surgery, including patient preparation, instrumentation, tissue handling, and performing suturing and wound closure as delegated by the provider.
  • Perform wound care, and provide patient education on treatment plans, medication use, and post-procedure care.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Contacts patients to review pathology results and provides clinical triage and follow-up as appropriate.
  • Perform telephone and electronic triage for patient concerns, coordinating care and communicating with providers as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and clinic protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to support best practices in dermatologic care.
  • Provide patient education including treatment plans, prescribed medication, and pre- and post- treatment care guidance.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Flexibility to travel between clinic locations as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program (Associate or Bachelors degree in nursing required)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota.
  • Previous experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, or another outpatient specialty is preferred but not required.
  • New graduates with an interest in dermatology are encouraged to apply - full training provided.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clinic setting.
