Love creating clean, welcoming spaces and helping travelers feel at home? Hostelling International USA is looking for a Housekeeping Lead to join our dedicated team at the Boston hostel!
In this important role, you’ll oversee daily housekeeping operations — ensuring quality, consistency, and cleanliness throughout the hostel. You’ll also help train and support team members, perform quality inspections, and step in when needed to cover afternoon or evening shifts. Position Details:
Pay: $18.85-20.23 per hour, DOE
Type: Full time, benefits eligible

Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning of common areas, guest rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and other spaces as assigned.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness by following HI-Q Standards and Procedures.
- Conduct regular quality inspections, ensuring consistency and accountability across all housekeeping tasks.
- Train team members on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and HI USA standards.
- Maintain proper inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and amenities; conduct monthly and quarterly inventories.
- Ensure guest privacy and safety at all times.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly to management.
- Keep MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) updated for all cleaning products.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and report HVAC or facility issues.
- Support the team by covering afternoon or evening shifts as needed.
- Complete additional projects or duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 2 years of housekeeping experience required (hospitality experience preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable reading and following written instructions, safety procedures, and training materials.
- Ability to train, motivate, and support team members.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and inventory tracking.
- Spanish language skills are highly desired.
- Prior hostel or hotel experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Frequently use hands and arms to clean, lift, and carry supplies.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to adjust focus and distinguish colors; work environment has moderate noise levels.
