Position Summary
The Fleet Coordinator is responsible for managing the coordination of our vehicle and equipment fleet to support both construction and warehouse operations. This includes performing CDL deliveries to job sites as needed.
This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and hands-on knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations. The Fleet Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of materials, equipment, and personnel across job sites and warehouse locations.
Primary responsibilities include scheduling, communicating, and executing the delivery of construction equipment for project teams. The role also involves coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs, and implementing training programs to ensure the fleet is operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable governmental regulations.
The Fleet Coordinator must maintain strong working relationships with both Fleet Management and project teams to support ongoing operations and maximize equipment readiness and utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the equipment and vehicle needs across construction sites and warehouse facilities.
- Install, activate, and maintain the telematics system on vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
- Install company logo’s, unit numbers, DOT, and other decals for each unit.
- Keep accurate records of vehicle assignments and update Telematics software, EFleets, ComData, and Fleet Management software.
- Train construction crews on how to properly perform and record daily inspections and maintenance.
- Transport construction equipment and vehicles between major markets as necessary.
- Coordinate third-party transport of vehicles, trailers, and equipment as necessary.
- Follow repairs from cradle to grave at third-party vendors.
- Select maintenance, repair, parts, and other required support vendors in new markets.
- Perform minor repairs to vehicles, equipment, and trailers.
- Performs other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of prior Fleet/Vehicle Maintenance experience a plus
- High School Diploma or GED
- Class “A” CDL Required
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communicative, interpersonal and computer skills required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Prior construction field experience a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 80%.
- Good decision-making skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job may work inside or outside with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and weather elements in restricted or confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces. This job may have exposure to working on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other exposures typical of heavy construction. This job also operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing reaching, bending crawling, standing, or stretching.
- The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Move about on the feet regularly. Sit for extended periods of time.
- Requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- May require travel.
- Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Talk and hear, ability to communicate with others both written and orally and by telephone.
- Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Possesses good hearing, normal or corrected.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed.
- Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
- Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
