PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
On the hunt for a Lifeguard 🏖️

We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Lifeguards. Think of this role as being the ultimate security detail for fun. You are the one person everyone looks to when the unexpected happens, ensuring the work environment stays safe.
This job is not just about having a great tan (though that is a perk!). You are the keeper of the aquatic kingdom, responsible for performing routine tasks to maintain safety and cleanliness of swimming pools. You will enforce pool rules, provide patron information, and respond quickly if there is an emergency. We are building a team that acts like a finely tuned instrument—everyone knows their part when it counts.
Bonus: This gig runs during the sunniest hours—a sweet mid-day schedule, generally 10 am – 4 pm. No need for late-night shifts!

Hiring Salary is $17.50/hour.
This position is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.
Lifeguards perform routine tasks to maintain the safety and cleanliness of swimming pools
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Enforcing pool rules
- Responding to emergencies
- Performing daily pool maintenance
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Lifeguard training
- Standard first aid and CPR-PR certification or equivalent program certification.
- Water Safety Instructor Certification (Preferred)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
- Moderate physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds; frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds; regular walking and standing; regular climbing, bending, kneeling and crouching; hand/foot/eye coordination to perform appropriate rescue skills; vision to read instructions; hearing and speech communication for communication with employees and citizens.
Work Environment:
- Works both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, water and other conditions found in an aquatic environment.
Equipment Used:
- Operates equipment related to aquatic facility operations.
This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
