We are seeking a motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented laboratory technician to join our biomedical research team studying aging and cancer. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to follow instructions carefully while completing tasks efficiently and precisely. Under direct supervision, the technician will perform routine to moderately complex laboratory procedures, including mouse handling and husbandry, genotyping, tissue dissection, molecular biology techniques such as Western blotting and qPCR, and organization of experimental data. The position requires a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
Full-time or part-time positions are available.
Responsibilities
1. Mouse Care & Experimental Support
- Maintain and monitor mouse colonies, including weaning, tagging, and genotyping.
- Assist with mouse-related experiments, such as injections, behavioral and metabolic testing, and tissue dissection.
2. Molecular Biology & Laboratory Techniques
- Isolate RNA and protein from tissues or cultured cells.
- Perform molecular analyses, including qPCR and Western blotting, to assess gene and protein expression.
- Set up equipment and materials for experimental procedures or instructional activities.
- Prepare stock solutions and reagents as needed.
3. Data Management & Documentation
- Accurately document experimental procedures, results, and data using Excel or other software.
- Organize experimental data for analysis and reporting.
4. Laboratory Organization & Support
- Maintain laboratory organization, including ordering supplies and managing chemical inventory.
- Assist in preparing figures, reports, and presentations for publications and meetings.
- Conduct literature searches and organize reference materials.
5. Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Hands-on lab experience and animal handling experience.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Reliable, accurate, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with others.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in a basic science is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) year of experience is required.
- Must be willing/able to work with laboratory mice.
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
- Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
