The Opportunity

The Baltimore Regional Housing Partnership (BRHP), which operates the Baltimore Housing Mobility Program, is a 501(c)(3) that assists over 4,300 qualified families in moving from areas of concentrated poverty and obtaining quality and affordable housing in communities with strong schools, low crime, and ample job opportunities in high opportunity areas within Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties.

BRHP sits on the board of Mobility Works (MW) and is a founding member of its Housing Mobility Network. MW is a key actor in advancing housing mobility nationally, through advocacy and the provision of technical assistance, training, advocacy, and other field building activities. Since 2022, MW has been performing this work as a start-up with a very small staff. Now is a critical time in its development, particularly as it seeks to establish the Participant Leadership Program, to bring on additional personnel. 

BRHP seeks a Special Projects Coordinator who supports BRHP’s mission and purpose as well as those of MW. The Special Projects Coordinator will support BRHP in the implementation of special initiatives, including helping to further develop the programs and operations of MW as needed in its start-up phase. The position requires someone that can serve as an organization-wide influencer and who has competencies in both organizational macro-level and programmatic micro-level matters. This position has dual reports to BRHP’s Executive Director (10 hours) and Innovation and to MW’s Executive Director (30 hours). 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work for the Special Projects Coordinator. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required. 

    Serve as key team member for both BRHP and MW in rolling out new initiatives and special projects, using project management principles, cross-team coordination meetings, and developing internal and external materials to be used in rollout.

    Assist as necessary with grant prospect research.

    Complete periodic grant reports for both BRHP and MW as required, summarizing relevant project progress, outcomes, and expenditures, and ensure reports are submitted within time limitations specified.

    Collaborate with MW’s Community Engagement Director to develop content and programming for the Participant Leadership Program, the Housing Mobility Network, and the broader housing mobility field.

    Collaborate with MW and BRHP team members and external stakeholders in the planning and execution of marketing and outreach related to the Participant Leadership Program, the Housing Mobility Network, the Baltimore Housing Mobility Program and other special initiatives.

    Research and identify opportunities to collaborate with external partners and formalize partnerships to advance MW’s and BRHP’s work.

    Present to external audiences at select conferences, trainings, and other industry events.

    Advise executive leadership on assets needed to implement initiatives.

    Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

    Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques.

    Proficient in Microsoft 365 or related tools, and able to collaborate, track progress, and produce quality work product remotely, using cloud-based software.

    Extremely organized and meticulous with details.

    Ability to meet deadlines.

    Ability to interpret financial data and assist in preparation of budgets and financial grant reports.

    Ability to be discreet with sensitive information that may be needed for some grants such as employee salaries or upcoming projects.

Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in related field required (i.e. Social Work, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Public Policy, etc.) or 8 years of experience in nonprofit programs and/or operations.


Preferred Qualifications

    Prior experience working at an advocacy or service organization focusing on low-income populations, particularly related to housing.

    Some experience in grant management and grant writing.

    Project management experience.
