We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Threat Detection – Anti-Cheat Operations to lead strategic, operational, and tactical analysis, focused on video game cheating and hacking. This role is central to driving forward our anti-cheat initiatives by understanding and dismantling cheating ecosystems, analyzing threat actor behaviors, and developing intelligence-driven defense strategies.
As a Senior Manager, you will work cross-functionally with Platform Engineering, Product Security, Game Studios, and Business Intelligence, whilst leading the Anti-Cheat Team delivering evidence-based insights, threat assessments, tools & services, and long-term development strategies to protect our player ecosystem.
Responsibilities:Threat Intelligence & Analysis
- Provide in-depth, evidence-based analysis of video game cheats, hacks, and associated threat vectors.
- Deconstruct cheating tools and methods to understand delivery mechanisms, detection bypasses, and monetization models.
- Evaluate the potential impact of cheating on game integrity, user trust, and company reputation.
Anti-Cheat Data Analysis
- Analyze telemetry, behavioral, and external data sources to uncover patterns in cheat usage and identify emerging threats.
- Profile threat actors, including their motives, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
- Build and maintain a threat intelligence repository and adversary playbooks.
Intelligence Delivery & Collaboration
- Lead the Anti-Cheat Engineering team to design intelligence-informed countermeasures.
- Provide strategic intelligence to guide long-term anti-cheat roadmap decisions.
- Manage operational intelligence to inform ongoing investigations, enforcement, and incident response.
- Support tactical intelligence needs by delivering real-time indicators of compromise (IOCs), cheat signatures, and exploit detection techniques.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead and mentor a small team of engineers and operational analysts.
- Act as a subject-matter expert on threat intelligence and cheating behaviors in internal and external forums.
- Present findings and risk assessments to stakeholders including executives, game developers, and legal/compliance teams.
- 7+ years of experience in threat intelligence, cybersecurity, or anti-cheat operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of malware, exploit development, obfuscation techniques, and reverse engineering.
- Experience analyzing and tracking cyber threat actors and underground forums related to cheating, modding, or game exploitation.
- Proven ability to communicate technical threats to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in the gaming industry or with game security tools/techniques.
- Background in threat hunting, incident response, or digital forensics.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Certifications such as GCTI, GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI), or OSINT-focused credentials.
Senior Manager, Threat Detection & Anti-Cheat Operations - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $150,000 - $285,000 per year.
ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
