Overview:
University Physicians' Association is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical (LPN) New Patient Coordinator for University Cancer Specialists at UT Medical Center. This role is ideal for a licensed RN/LPN with strong organizational skills and experience in pulmonology or patient intake coordination.

General Summary of Duties: The UCS New Patient Coordinator is a Licensed Practical Nurse/ Registered Nurse who facilitates new patient visit coordination for UCS. This position plans, coordinates and facilitates the care of new patients in UCS to optimize the intake of patients and improve the throughput through the clinic.
Job duties include:
- Monitor incoming referrals by fax, email, and telephone
- Input accurate information into our EMR system for new and existing patients
- Regularly communicate with our physicians, nurse practitioners, RNs, patients, and referring offices.
- Handle sensitive information and abide by HIPAA rules
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is collected and verified
- Understand the practice's policies and accepted insurances
- Contact referring offices to gather missing or undocumented information
- Contact appointments in scheduling book and notify patient/referring office
- Keep detailed log of all incoming referrals
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Active RN or LPN licensure required
- Experience with oncology terminology and diagnoses strongly preferred
- Strong communication, follow-up, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Professional demeanor and empathetic approach to patient care
- Reliable and punctual
