Program Structure:
- Duration/Schedule: Flexible part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer months.
- Location: Onsite - Cleveland
- Start Date: May 2026
What We’re Looking For:
- Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Electrical/Controls Engineering or a related field with current status of at least a Sophomore level.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Team-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
Preferred Experience:
- Training in PLC languages.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft SQL, Wonderware InTouch.
What You’ll Focus On:
- Assist with design and evaluation of automation and control systems.
- Design, research, and update the graphical user interfaces utilized by operators to improve production workflow.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement and process documentation projects.
- Learn to navigate, develop, and troubleshoot HMI software and assist in integrating new process equipment (such as safety lasers, proximity switches, robotics, and PLCs) into the HMI environment.
- Test and monitor systems to ensure functionality, address issues, and adjust automated processes as needed.
- Develop an understanding of steelmaking process and how control systems drive operational excellence.
- Build skills in project management and professional communication through regular status updates and team collaboration.
- Propose design changes and improvements for future automation projects.
- Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
