Pay Range

$32.45 - $48.70

Major Responsibilities:

Directs the overall operation and services of the department to provide the highest quality of customer focused, and cost- effective services.

  • Plan, design and implement appropriate staffing patterns based on financial and customer feedback/input data which addresses identified customer needs (i.e. adjusted work hours, appropriate allocation of staff per time of day, determination of shift assignments based on work volumes, priorities, or specific department/customer needs).
  • Direct and manage appropriate work flow patterns, solve problems, implement emergency procedures, and address customer needs at all levels of the organization.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze operational data and design and implement short and long-term department vision, and goals (i.e. identification of services provided or needed, service volumes, staff productivity, capital needs, budgetary needs, opportunities for process improvement and/or performance improvement initiatives or projects, etc.)
  • Develops and implements specific department policies and procedures and assures that operational/customer service standards are created, implemented and monitored.
  • Initiates, facilitates, implements and monitors quality assurance activities (i.e. CQI projects, data collection, data interpretation, etc.) to ensure operational effectiveness and identification of operational improvement opportunities.
  • Establishes a “Team” working environment which fosters and supports an understanding of and mutual respect for department leadership, individual coworkers, operational/customer service standards, and interdependent working relationships.
  • Maintains and monitors the EPD/PT system to include software upgrades and the evaluation of new technology.
  • Manages emergency situations and alarms to ensure prompt service response to i.e. cardiac arrest, trauma, codes, fire, etc.) via appropriate policies and procedures, appropriate and functioning equipment and utilization of highly qualified and trained staff.


Plan, design, implement, monitor and evaluate process/staffing redesign and performance improvement projects and initiatives.

  • Actively explores new opportunities for process improvement and/or redesign in order to identify and implement efficiencies in patient throughput, customer focused services, new or updated technology, productivity efficiencies, cost saving ideas, etc.
  • Initiate associate cross training where applicable.
  • Identify, facilitate, implement and monitor performance improvement initiatives/projects in order to improve service, solve problems, increase productivity, and/or realize cost efficiencies.
  • Continuously analyze and evaluate staffing patterns, work flow processes, work unit volumes, etc., in order to provide excellent communication services to internal and external customers.

Develops and monitors the annual operating budgets of the distinct department of responsibility.

  • Plan and prepare the annual budget to include personnel and non-personnel consistent with workload and service expectations.
  • Assessment, control and management of total operating expenses (i.e. analyze responsibility summary, labor distribution report, over/under man hours report, etc.)
  • Review and authorize all department monthly invoices for payment (i.e. telephone bills, service charges, etc.).
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to specialty bed rental and wheelchair inventory.

Oversees the recruitment and selection of departmental personnel in order to provide the highest quality of customer focused and cost-effective services.

  • Interviews and hires highly qualified, customer service orientated and applicants.
  • Creates, implements, and assesses new associate orientation programs.
  • Initiates and completes disciplinary procedures.
  • Prepares or assists in the evaluation of employee performance, and develops performance measurement indicators and reports.
  • Assesses or designates assessment of department staff (knowledge/skill levels) to determine development needs, designs and implements employee development plans, provides one-on-one mentoring, coaching and counseling, and provides or designates identification and documentation of specific employee goals with completion time frames and follow-up plan.
  • Monitors departments staff work hours, productivity levels and PTO (i.e. sick time, holiday time, vacation time, retro pay, bonus pay, etc.).
  • Develops, designs, implements and/or manages staff education activities (employee competency, safety, new procedure/equipment education, system design modification/enhancement education, customer service standards/expectations, etc.).


Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree and equivalent experience with a minimum of 5-10 years administrative/management experience in Healthcare.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience with salary, expense, revenue and service unit management and budget preparation.
  • Functioning computer experience to include Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Previous experience with creation, design, facilitation and implementation of process and staffing redesign.
  • Experience with quality management processes. Strong background in logistics.
