JOB SUMMARY:
Be part of a dynamic group responsible for designing/operating engineering development flight simulators and certification/qualification of aircraft components using state of the art test equipment in a dedicated lab environment (testing to meet DO-160 requirements). This hands-on position will require commitment to providing quality test results and the ability to think outside the box to help our customers with their testing needs. This position will also provide many opportunities to grow multi-disciplined skill sets while working with other engineers throughout Textron Aviation to develop and perform testing to meet current and future flight simulation, certification, and qualification test requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup flight simulators for test conditions and record test data
- Coordinate with other Engineering groups to verify aircraft design and procedures
- Develop and troubleshoot computer models to match aircraft systems
- Develop and troubleshoot simulator wire harnesses and I/O systems
- Setup of electrical circuits and mechanical test apparatus for test setups
- Operation of generators and multichannel oscilloscope
- Repair of electrical test equipment
- Design and assembly of vibration fixtures
- Troubleshooting of test setups and chamber operation
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree required in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or other related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn and perform in a fast-moving dynamic environment
- Basic knowledge of CATIA or other 3D design software
- Experience with C/C++, Python, or other programming languages
- Knowledge of electric motors
- Experience with wiring diagrams
- Experience with microcontrollers
- Experience with circuit board design
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes and other similar test equipment
- Comfort with working in a laboratory environment
Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
