The American College of Physicians (ACP) is looking for a Digital Printing & Bindery Operator to join the Copy & Mail Center department. ACP, a national organization of internal medicine physicians with headquarters in Philadelphia, is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States with more than 162,000 members worldwide. This is a full-time in-person position with 5 days in-office per week required.
Under the general supervision of Copy & Mail Center Manager, the Digital Printing and Bindery Operator will operate an assortment of digital printers and bindery equipment, support customers and staff by providing processing recommendations, and make minor equipment repairs to keep units running and production uninterrupted.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Programs and operates production-networked multi-function digital printers; color and black/white.
- Digitally prints components to be used for College-wide directives and direct mail promotions. Prepares finished products for bulk shipment or further processes projects through assembly and mailing.
- Analyzes job requests and makes production recommendations to customers and staff.
- Reviews, accepts, and processes Copy Center and Creative Services requests using workflow software.
- Electronically reproduces USB Flash Drives using specialized duplicator equipment.
- Operates various scanning/image editing software to create electronic files.
- Performs quality control inspections to ensure finished products meet industry quality standards.
- Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on the Copy Center equipment and coordinates service calls.
- Sets up select hardware, loads updates, and installs software, rendering the units operational.
- Coordinates maintenance calls, adjusts color calibration, upholds inventory levels of consumables, and distributes supplies to units according to usage.
- Coordinates inventory management for the Copy Center, assuring that appropriate levels of a large array of stock items are preserved.
- Cross-trains in all areas of Copy Center operations, Including fulfillment/ inventory and shipping merchandise.
Qualifications:
- High school degree required.
- Extensive production knowledge of digital duplication equipment (including technically advanced printers, and Flash drive copiers) and associated software.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Working knowledge of bindery equipment and related materials in order to support finishing operations.
- For smaller equipment, ability to set up hardware, load/install software, and render units operational.
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to Copy Center equipment and MFD fleet units, including color calibrations.
- Basic oral and written skills required to interact with College-wide staff, customers, and vendors at all levels.
- Must have the ability to: lift up to 50 pounds, operate manual pallet fork truck up to 2,500 pounds and roll to desired location, lift, stack and wrap pallets, push/pull wheeled trash dumpsters, climb 3-step ladder, bend to load paper in printer and lift printed materials, push/pull flatbed carts and 2-wheeled hand trucks with various weight loads, perform repetitive hand motion tasks for extended periods of time, and work in a non-temperature controlled environment at times.
