The Birth Registrar prepares birth Certificates for all live births at VBH, death certificates, report of induced termination and spontaneous fetal death reports. The Birth Registrar will collect and report paternity information to the state department of Vital Statistics and the Child Support Enforcement Agency.
Responsibilities
Completes the Birth information worksheet with accuracy and enters the information into the Office of Vital Records system.
Accommodates parent's schedule to complete records
Efficient, dependable and punctual with flexibility.
Carry workload independently.
Informs nurses of any special patient needs
Work must be complete, accurate and neat.
Keep track of and record daily information required for monthly and weekly reports
Files records with Office of Vital Records
Keep track of and order supplies from Vital Records, Virginia Paternity Establishment Program.
Order office supplies as needed.
Train all new part time and limbo birth Registrars.
Maintains Notary Public license.
Stays abreast of changes from Office of Vital Records and Virginia Paternity Establishment program
Enters PKU and CCHD results daily on all discharged newborns.
Weekly and monthly reports: Birth Certificate Report weekly transmitted to Vital Records Virginia Paternity Establishment report weekly transmitted to Vital Records Original Death Certificate report to vital records Copy of death certificate report sent to Lynchburg Health Dept Copy of death certificate kept in hospital files Hospital PEP report and twins/triplets report sent to UM, Director, and VP Chlamydia report send to VP and Director No prenatal care report completed WHS Male Stat sheet report sent to WHS Childbirth Education stats kept for hospital file Live Births for month sent to Lynchburg public library Daily log is kept for every birth certificate done in Birth Certificate office
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time.
Qualifications
Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Courses in Medical terminology
Required Experience: Minimum three years office experience. Competent computer (Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications)
Required Certification & Licensures: Notary Public
