Material HandlerMaterial Handler
The primary function of this position is responsible to ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials and equipment, and maintain inventory control and records; perform related work.
Essential Functions:
- Shipping and loading trucks: checks identification, reports shortages or damage, moves, stores, stacks, and arranges
- Receives and unloads freight both manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
- Inventory transfer: unloads, moves, and stores a variety of materials, parts, or products using standardized procedures
- Must be able to identify, record, and keep like parts together
- May be required to assist in weighing or counting materials
- Maintaining inventory records, inventory adjustments, ship confirmations, receiving tally and scrap entry
- Preform Cycle counts and other related duties
- Operate a power lift truck, hand truck, dolly, or other device
- May be required to be back up for shipping clerk (print shippers, prepare BOL, etc)
- Wear the proper PPE for each task given
- Fills-in for other positions when needed
- Perform other related duties as directed
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm’s length, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision
- Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time
- Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
- Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Must have good written and oral communication skills
- Must have 2+ years of shipping experience in a manufacturing/warehouse setting
- Forklift, standup, sit-down experience
- Knowledge of Fed Ex or UPS systems
- Familiarity with inventory and scales
- Good communication skills
- Follow oral and written instructions and prints
- Multitask and self-motivated
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
