Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology TT faculty, The University of Akron. The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is seeking a dynamic and experienced exercise physiologist with a strong background in clinical exercise rehabilitation and/or applied physiology, exercise testing, organizational leadership, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, student mentorship, and undergraduate research. This tenure-track position requires a collaborative educator-scholar to teach in the undergraduate Exercise Science and graduate Exercise Physiology programs, foster community engagement through partnerships in clinical and wellness settings, and guide students toward professional certifications and career readiness.
The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is one of seven academic units within the College of Health and Human Sciences. It offers three undergraduate and three graduate programs, along with two minors. The school also hosts the UA Nutrition Center and the Human Performance Lab, which provide faculty and students with opportunities for community-based collaboration. Key strengths of the school include hands-on experiential learning, service learning, interprofessional simulations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree required with a specialization in Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation, experience in Cardiac, Pulmonary, and/or Cancer Care settings and/or fitness and wellness programming experience in community health. Higher education teaching experience with demonstrated expertise in: Exercise physiology Exercise leadership Exercise testing Exercise in special populations Strong experience with laboratory techniques and applied physiology protocols. Current national fitness-related certification (e.g., ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in online and/or distance learning formats. Proficiency in course management systems (e.g., Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas). Demonstrated success with course development, assessment, and curriculum design. Experience providing academic advising and mentoring undergraduate/graduate students, including directing undergraduate research projects. Evidence of engaging in evidence-based practice and/or applied research initiatives. Participation in accreditation-related activities (programmatic, facility, or professional accreditation). Demonstrated understanding of the role of foundational and applied exercise physiology in preparing students for clinical practice and professional certifications.
