Paraprofessional Job Coach

Department: Walsh Academy Location: Niles, IL

**Job Summary:**

Join an award-winning, innovative school in Niles, Illinois that is student-focused and provides a unique and collaborative team environment. The Paraprofessional Job Coach position is non-exempt and operates on a year-round academic schedule with scheduled breaks and reduced summer hours. The role reports to the Assigned Special Education Teacher and the Assistant Principal for Vocational Educational Services.

**Responsibilities:**

- Improve academic and vocational skills of students.
- Support Special Education Teachers to help students achieve state standards, IEP goals, and/or specific district graduation requirements.
- Interact closely with staff, students, and parents/guardians to implement specialized or vocational educational programs for each student.

**Qualifications:**
- Maintain required educational certifications and training.
- Assist with classroom instruction, tutoring, or one-on-one instructional time under teacher supervision.
- Support students in completing assignments, administering tests, and inputting completion of class assignments into IEP software.
- Develop strategies to help students achieve their IEP/Transition plan goals.
- Actively participate in staff development opportunities and in-service trainings.
- Assist with crisis management, including physical restraints when necessary.
- Hold a State Approved Paraprofessional License, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred and a High School diploma required.

**Skills and Knowledge:**
- Possess a valid Illinois driver�s license and be willing to obtain a School Bus Driver�s Permit.
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) processes.
- Ability to organize workloads effectively.

**Physical Demands:**
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk, and drive for extended periods.
- Occasionally lifting/moving objects and/or youth over 40 pounds.
- Provide physical restraint for students when necessary.
- Visual, hearing, and learning capabilities required for job functions.
- Participate in physical education activities and interact with students when needed.

**Environment and Scheduling:**
- Work during school and vocational program days and hours.
- Potential off-site work during remote learning days or when in-person learning is unsafe.
- Contact with students in various settings, including those exhibiting challenging behaviors.
