YOUR DAY TO DAY:
The Manufacturing Lead in Metal Space Frames is an energetic and motivated individual whose focus is to realize the goals of the product line and strive to keep each member the group focused on achieving them.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Leads non-exempt employees involved in production, assemble, subassembly or fabrication operations.
- Manages the day-to-day workflow of subordinate non-exempt workers.
- Reviews production schedules, material and manpower resources for adequacy.
- Informs assigned employee of production and material problems and coordinates with support groups to resolve problems affecting schedules.
- Drives cross-functional problem solving with project team and Quality personnel to meet objectives.
- Handles unexpected demands and adapts effort to new situations.
- Assign and monitor individual members workloads in order to meet goals (long and short term) as set by the Operations Manager. Leads should be continuously aware of immediate and future needs of the product line (ie: process quantity / goals, shipment or zero-day dates, etc)
- Resolve problems and break down barriers which can cause processing delays or impair productivity.
- The manufacturing’s Group Lead is a “Management Representative” in the area and shall at all times strive to maintain a productive environment and positive company image. When a decision needs to be made, the Group Lead will act in the best interest of the company first, their product lines second, then the individual needs third.
- Provide continuous communication flow between resources, other departments.
- Strive to understand and be proficient at each operation and task in the area to be able to provide specific assistance wherever needed.
- Take personal responsibility for quality and throughput in the area. Maintain current documentation and stay informed of issues and concerns affecting production.
- Communicate needs and priorities to the Manager/Supervisors, QC and Engineering as needed.
- Assist the Manager/Supervisor with personnel issues by monitoring and reporting issues or concerns with group members or problems interacting with other groups.
- Encourage cross training of all production tasks to promote flexibility and employee value.
- Promote positive teamwork and company morale within the group. Discourage negativity, “trash talk” or activities that interfere with productivity. Encourage tam members to get involved with company activities and attend events / employee meetings, etc.
- Mentor members and coach the next generation of Group Leads
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- Lead by example
- Stand in to represent the manager/supervisor in their absence
- Personal Issues, disciplinary actions, and employee reviews are not the responsibility to the group leader to act upon or resolve, these actions will be the responsibility of the Manger/Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
- Be an expert in their field. It is expected that they be able to read assembly prints or circuit diagrams if applicable and work instructions that are written using standard engineering practices in English.
- May build to print/work instructions without error and with minimal to no engineering support. In addition, the Leader would have the ability to train additional manufacturing employees in these tasks.
- Works with additional engineering support to build and improve the assembly print/work instructions.
- Uses common shop tools and test equipment without damaging the product, tools, and without hurting themselves, or others in the work area.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

- High School Diploma plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

- The ability to kneel, stoop, bend, climb, reach, and/or balance
- This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
