POSITION OVERVIEW
Director of Global Compensation and Payroll will be responsible for overseeing global payroll and a variety of compensation programs, including incentive, commission, and equity components. As a key member of our Finance leadership team, this role will collaborate closely with internal partners - including the Legal and Human Resources departments, to help shape strategic direction, ensure compliance, and enhance the operational effectiveness of our global compensation programs in alignment with evolving business needs.
This is an onsite position located in Holland, MI. It is not open to hybrid or remote work at this time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the development and execution of global compensation strategies and programs, including base pay, variable pay (commissions), bonuses, and stock-based compensation (SBC).
- Design and manage the company’s compensation structure, ensuring alignment with business objectives, industry trends, and market competitiveness.
- Oversee and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing globally, working closely with internal payroll teams or third-party vendors.
- Manage audits and regulatory reporting related to payroll and benefits.
- Oversee the stock-based compensation program, including equity grants, option exercises, vesting schedules, and employee communications.
- Provide senior leadership with compensation analysis, including benchmarking, cost modeling, and trend analysis for base salary, bonuses, commissions, and equity grants.
- Develop and present compensation reports to executive leadership to inform decision making.
- Stay current on global compensation trends, tax laws, and regulatory changes, advising senior leadership on necessary adjustments to compensation practices.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, HR, Legal, and IT departments to implement efficient systems and processes to manage compensation, stock-based compensation, and payroll administration and ensure compensation programs align with talent acquisition and retention strategies, employee experience, and organizational objectives.
- Supervise and manage staff, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, communicating expectations, and handling and/or supporting disciplinary actions of team members pursuant to Company policies and procedures.

WHAT TO BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in compensation management, with a proven track record of overseeing global compensation programs, payroll administration, and stock-based compensation.
- Experience in large-scale, multi-national organizations with a complex compensation structure.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles related to compensation and equity.
- Experience working with third-party payroll providers, stock compensation administrators, and HRIS systems.
- In-depth knowledge of global compensation practices, payroll processing, and familiarity with wage and hour, tax, pay transparency, and other compensation-related statutes, laws and regulations.
- Strong project management and analytical skills, with the ability to handle large datasets and complex reporting.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with legal, finance, and HR stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
WHAT WILL HELP
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) or Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP).
- Expertise in executive compensation design, equity programs, and incentive plan governance.
- Experience with compensation analytics tools.
