To manage and supervise the Audit Analytics team who support the Internal Audit Services division by operationalizing data analytics to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes, utilizing advanced analytical tools and automation technologies.  To oversee the staff with emphasis on employee development, communication within the group, IAS, and SECU. Provide support to the VP of Audit Analytics and assist with the facilitation of the IAS Audit Plan.  Programming activities include supporting software programs utilized by IAS, working with Predictive Analytics tools, WebFocus reporting, and other programs as required to support the Audit department.

Responsibilities

10%

Collaborate with auditors, management, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data analytics and advanced statistical techniques.  Work with business users to gather, understand and document all business requirements for new reports and analyses, and provide data, reports, and other deliverables/artifacts that meet all requirements.

Provide leadership, mentoring, and training for assigned team members.  Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Audit Analytics team.  Responsible for developing project plans for team members and overseeing completion of projects.  Lead data scientists in providing data-driven insights and solutions to enhance audit processes.  Provide technical expertise in data models, database design, data visualization.

30%

Maintain expert knowledge of all IAS reporting systems, IAS software applications, and ancillary databases used within IAS and supported by IAS.  Responsible for developing and documenting standards for processes and procedures utilized by the team in accomplishing assigned duties for training and best practices.  Ensure reporting and coding standards have been met and results of reports and analyses have been properly validated.  Coordinate peer reviews of reporting results, code, analytical methods and models, and results of data analyses.

Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance data science within the audit department and organization.  Develop a presence in the credit union community and attend relevant conferences/seminars to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.

Required Relevant Experience

Required Knowledge, Abilities, Skills

Technical Skills: 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel up to and including complex financial modeling using advanced formulas
  • Expert-level proficiency within AuditBoard
  • Expert-level proficiency in data extraction and preparation at all levels of complexity
  • Expert-level proficiency in Power BI or Tableau for visualizations and Dashboard building

Functional skills:

  • A high level of proficiency in interpreting and developing code for retrieving data and statical analysis
  • Experience in wrangling, merging, and extracting large amounts of data
  • Experience with descriptive and inferential statistical analysis including modeling for financial data
  • Strong understanding of audit methodologies, risk assessment, and compliance frameworks
  • Strong data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to work and communicate well with technical professionals and business analysts across the organization including the ability to present ideas and results of analytical reports and statistical analyses
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously under minimal supervision and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis
  • Must be able to effectively manage a team
  • Must be able to manage projects involving cross-functional teams and technical resources
  • Must be detail oriented and an excellent time manager
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of people in a professional manner, face to face, on the telephone and in writing
  • Desire for continuous education within audit and or data analytics.
  • Highest level of integrity and objectivity to preserve independence in all audit functions
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing project needs in evolving situations
  • Must be able to speak English fluently
  • Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager
