SJS Executives is seeking to add an Ergonomist to support ongoing Industrial Hygiene operations at a Veterans Affairs Hospital located in Los Angeles (near Wilshire). 


SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.


The pay for this position will be $43.00 per hour. The benefits are 11 paid federal holidays per year, Combined 80 hours of annual accrued PTO/Sick Leave, and medical, health, dental, and life insurance bundle.

This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive ergonomic evaluations across office, clinical, and non-clinical settings within a healthcare environment.
  • Perform workstation analyses and ergonomic risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential sources of injury or discomfort.
  • Manage setup, transport, and teardown of specialized ergonomic or clinical equipment during on-site evaluations.
  • Lead formal investigations of workplace injury complaints potentially linked to ergonomic factors.
  • Deliver ergonomics training and educational programs to staff to promote proper use of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Identify and assess high-risk job roles or departments; provide data-driven recommendations for workstation redesign or process modification.
  • Perform detailed workplace evaluations using photographs, measurements, modeling, biomechanical analysis, and employee interviews.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Interior Design, and Safety teams on ergonomic equipment selection and workers’ compensation approvals.
  • Maintain comprehensive records including tracking logs, ergonomic report binders, and follow-up documentation for high-risk areas.
  • Prepare and submit formal written reports and recommendations within 14 days following ergonomic assessments.

Qualifications

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • US Citizenship is Required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a healthcare environment, including both office and clinical ergonomics. (Preferred, not required)
  • Demonstrated experience performing ergonomic evaluations, workstation analyses, and employee injury investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene practices, workplace safety standards, and ergonomic assessment methodologies.
  • Skilled in delivering training and developing ergonomic awareness programs.
  • Proficient in documentation, data collection, and ergonomic modeling tools (e.g., REBA, RULA, NIOSH Lifting Equation).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for interfacing with HR, facilities, and occupational health teams.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
