Our Opportunity

GPJ is hiring a Sr. Event Manager to support our growing team.

This role is hybrid, requiring you to report on-site to one of the following office locations a minimum of 2 days/week: Los Angeles, or San Francisco.

Your Role

In your role, you successfully take charge of key components of events, like Food and Beverage or Transportation, and at times, oversee all aspects of smaller conferences. For the parts you're responsible for, you're actively involved in steering the entire project, handling budgets, and keeping a close eye on the timeline. This includes managing event logistics, financial matters, production schedules for graphics and materials, vendor timelines, and creative tasks.

You make sure that the client's needs are met and maintained throughout, acting as their main point of contact. You also nurture relationships with vendors, ensuring smooth communication, obtaining quotes, making selections, arranging setups, managing purchase orders and deposits, and sorting out minor issues that may arise.

When the event is in action, you're there on-site to offer hands-on support, ensuring everything runs seamlessly. And once the event wraps up, you see through the closing and reconciliation processes.

You also play a non-supervisory role in mentoring and overseeing team members, helping them grow in their roles. You don't just focus on specific tasks; you can look beyond and provide insights into the potential outcomes of decisions, considering various situations and options. Your familiarity with GPJ's workflow processes is strong, allowing you to navigate and manage according to those standards.

Your Skills

  • Basic awareness of GPJ offerings
  • Has successfully led / supported a variety of components
  • May help mentor / teach others on Event team
  • Builds budgets/estimates (component of event  or compiling for an event); manages/reconciles budget (component of event or small / less complex event)
  • Understands and manages key financial metrics (for key areas / scope with some guidance)
  • Understands impact of changes on project budget and financial metrics (with some guidance).
  • Able to identify and elevate budget / financial issues.
  • Understands and manages key PO, reconciliation and invoicing processes (for key areas / scope with some guidance). 

Has ability to negotiate and identify SCORE

  • Ability to understand on-site methodology, practices and requirements, as well as show and venue rules and regulations (if applicable).

Expert knowledge of end-to-end GPJ Event Production and project processes, with ability to  train others

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software including PPT, Word, Excel, Outlook. Previous experience with ERP, Project Management software, or similar tool is preferred

Your Experience

5+ years of previous industry / agency experience. 

3(+) direct experience with event management

4 Year College Degree; preferred in Marketing/Advertising/Event Management/Business Administration, Hospitality, Communications, or related field

Salary Range: $70k - $90k   

Salary is dependent on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) experience, skills, and location.
