QUALIFICATIONS:
  Required
  High School Diploma or GED
   Proficiency in the English language, in accordance with Minnesota state statute
   Highly Qualified status (HQ) as defined by one of the following:

POSITION SUMMARY:
 The Special Education Paraeducator is responsible for assisting teaching personnel or special services staff in the supervision and instruction of special education students, performing classroom clerical tasks, assisting students by meeting special health care needs, and developing students’ daily living and behavioral skills.
  
SALARY:
 $18.50 per hour
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  Assist in implementing and following through on educational programs developed through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process
   Assist students with feeding, lifting/positioning, bathroom needs, personal hygiene, and swimming
   Support student physical and behavioral management, including removing or restraining students for disruptive behavior when necessary
   Supervise/assist students during instructional and non-instructional activities
   Maintain awareness and observe student actions; assess behavior and communicate rules, expectations, and consequences
   Promote School District rules, policies, procedures, Mission Statement, and Core Values
   Assist in developing and maintaining a positive learning environment
   Adhere to federal, state, and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws
   Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers
   Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support the administrator or teacher
   Perform other duties as assigned
   
  
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
  Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods; may be exposed to adverse weather
   Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing
   Light Work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly to move objects
