The City of Wylie's Facilities division is seeking a Facility Support Technician. The selected applicant will perform routine custodial and maintenance duties of all city buildings and other facilities. The duties and responsibilities encompass custodial, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, construction and facility remodeling which includes drywall, carpentry and roofing. This position will ensure that city facilities are in good working order by performing all phases of building maintenance.
The Facilities division works four ten hour days each week.
Position Duties
- Clean and disinfect office areas, public meeting areas and restroom facilities including fixtures, sinks, urinals and toilets; and replenish supplies in restrooms.
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors; vacuum and clean carpets.
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, and fixtures.
- Wash windows, mirrors, and door glass.
- Clean tables and countertops.
- Empty, clean, and disinfect waste receptacles.
- Remove waste and recyclables from buildings and transport to designated collection areas.
- Identify and report maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Provide the supervisor with a list of supplies and materials needed.
- Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
- Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others.
- Troubleshoots maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
- Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.
- Performs routine plumbing repairs which include unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, and fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
- Performs routine electrical repairs which include changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assisting in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
- Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials as directed.
- Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures and bulletin boards, makes name plates, moves and sets up tables and chairs.
- Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.
- Paints interior and exterior walls.
- Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City.
- Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in building maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred certifications in HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing. Valid Driver's License. Must have Texas Driver's License within 60 days of hire. Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management after hire.
