Job Details:

Under general supervision, receives, documents, stores, and distributes supplies, equipment, uniforms, and other materials for Police personnel. Provides support to Police Department fleet specialists and performs related duties as assigned by the Resource Management Supervisor. Executes mail duties, including pick-up, sorting, and delivery. Assists at the Quartermaster’s office front counter with the distribution of uniforms to officers. Supports inventory management activities within the Quartermaster’s office. Assists with receiving shipments and coordinates pick-up and delivery activities with various supply vendors and city departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain an inventory of various uniform and supply equipment.
  • Transport supplies and inventory to city-contracted vendors and any designated city or Police Department facility.
  • Communicate and receive detailed information through oral communication with PD support staff, officers, PD supervisors, command staff, and city-contracted or external vendors, regarding:
    • Uniform and supply requests.
    • Supply communications via Resource Management.
  • Perform special administrative and clerical projects in support of the department, including but not limited to:
    • Assigned mail duties.
    • Package pickup and distribution, sorting, and receiving.
    • Inventory support for Resource Management needs.
  • Assist at the front counter of the Quartermaster, including but not limited to:
    • Providing exceptional customer service.
    • Working effectively in a team-based environment.
    • Forecast inventory supply needs.
  • Interpret and follow written or oral instructions concerning automotive repair and service schedules.
  • Lift or move items weighing up to 75 pounds, or heavier items with additional employee assistance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Compile information from written or digital records and perform special projects as needed.
  • Perform tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments under all weather conditions, unless otherwise directed by PD or city management.
  • Maintain and upkeep a professional appearance while wearing an approved city-issued uniform, adhering to appearance and hygiene standards as defined in the city personnel policy and police general orders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.
  • Skill in communicating professionally and tactfully with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.

  • Skill in performing multiple tasks at once.
  • Skill in using PC Software including current Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Skill with organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including but not limited to PC, telephone, calculator, scanner, and copier.
  • Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish unit objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines and tasks.
  • Ability to understand mathematical calculations involving fractions, percentages, and decimals.
  • Ability to work independently under general instructions.
  • Ability to work within a set schedule.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment utilizing knowledge of the organization's policies.
  • Performs a variety of physical skills including but not limited to filing, pulling, seeing, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping, twisting body, typing, walking, and writing.
  • Works independently under general instructions.

Qualifying Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/ GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of uniform and inventory replacement and related programs.
  • Knowledge of PC and app-based vehicle maintenance tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of service and maintenance requirements of automotive equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods, practices, and principles of basic mechanical repair work.
  • Knowledge of basic inventory practices.
