POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Director of Hotel Sales is responsible for leading all sales efforts to maximize room occupancy, room revenue, group/convention bookings, and partnerships within the hotel/golf/casino environment. This role develops sales strategies targeting corporate groups, convention/catering business, golf group package sales, and leisure business. Working closely with Casino Marketing, Player Development, and Events teams, the Director of Sales ensures seamless coordination to drive guest traffic, occupancy, and profitability throughout the resort.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides exceptional guest service to both external and internal guests by maintaining and exhibiting the Casino Resort We-Ko-Pa Way.
  • Develop and execute annual sales plans to achieve hotel room revenue, group ADR, and occupancy goals specific to group/convention-driven demand cycles.
  • Identify and grow key market segments including corporate meetings, local and national conventions, trade shows and entertainment/event business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Resort Revenue Strategist and Resort Senior Hospitality Manager to align pricing with need and demand periods for rooms.
  • Develop business relations with vendors like CVENT and Destination Marketing Companies (DMC) for business referrals.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences. 
  • Negotiate group contracts, meeting packages, and corporate partnerships.
  • Conduct site visits, presentations, and property tours for meeting planners.   
  • Work collaboratively with Conference Services/Catering to ensure flawless execution.
  • Ensures Request for Proposal (RFP) is responded to in a timely manner by team.
  • Lead/train/motivate the hotel sales team to achieve individual and team revenue goals
  • Oversee sales activity, account assignments, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a team culture focused on results, guest relationships, and collaboration with resort/casino departments.
  • Monitor competitive set performance and market trends within the casino/hotel sectors.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pace reports, and executive presentations for leadership.
  • Ensure group/activity contract compliance with WCR Legal team.
  • Working closely with the Reservation departments on call in sales and rooming list blocks.
  • Support Casino Marketing and Player Development with room block strategy for special player events. 
  • Maintain strong relationships with casino hosts and player development when needed to maximize high-value guest experiences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, hotel management, business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years firsthand experience in a casino/resort environment with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven record of securing group business in a hotel/casino environment.
  • Computer literate in current operating software, including Microsoft Office and Agilysys. 
  • Excellent negotiating, presentation, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Financial & Revenue competence.
  • Time management skills are necessary. 
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, see, hear, and walk.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull 20 lbs. or more.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
