The Financial Analyst specializing in Expense Management within the insurance industry, is responsible for full P&L analysis with a focus on operating and capital budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the company’s legal entities and lines of business in support achieving profitability objectives and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with departments across the organization and members of the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, appropriate allocations to lines of business, and transparent reporting of results vs budget.

Please note: This position is a hybrid role - with two days required in person at our Center City Philadelphia location.

Job Description

  • Support preparation of the annual budget by legal entity and line of business with emphasis on operating/capital budgets including details by department and account, and monthly re-forecasts
  • Monitor expense trends and support monthly financial close to ensure proper accounting classifications, and ensuring that all incurred but unpaid expenses are properly accrued
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, dashboards and variance analysis of actual performance against budgets/forecasts/prior periods, highlight emerging trends, and present to management along with actionable insights on process improvement and cost-savings opportunities
  • Identify, quantify, communicate, and report on risks and opportunities, and their financial impact
  • Develop and maintain expense allocation models aligned with company policy and regulatory and statutory reporting requirements
  • Prepare models and proformas as needed to support planning and business decisions
  • Ongoing collaboration with enterprise and company functional leaders, and accounting and financial reporting teams to help ensure understanding and appropriateness of financial results
  • Assist in audit readiness and internal controls related to expense tracking and allocations
  • Lead or support other business needs and special projects as needed

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in FP&A, preferably in insurance or financial services
