A Pastry Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the pastry department, supervising and training staff, ensuring high-quality production, and managing inventory and food safety. Key duties include preparing pastries, overseeing production schedules, maintaining quality control, assisting with hiring and training, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.

  • Lead by example with exceptional pastry skills, organization, and leadership during production and service.
  • Supervise and support the pastry team to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency in all desserts, breads, and confections.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Pastry Chef and culinary leadership to execute recipes, develop seasonal menus, and uphold the creative standards of José Andrés Group.
  • Maintain daily production schedules, oversee prep lists, and monitor ingredient quality and inventory.
  • Train, coach, and mentor pastry cooks — fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and food-handling standards at all times.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for the art of pastry and innovation through exploration, curiosity, and precise technique.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional pastry experience in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry fundamentals — from laminated doughs and plated desserts to chocolate, sugar, and modern techniques.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining grace under pressure.
  • Keen attention to detail with a refined palate for flavor balance, texture, and presentation.
  • Solid understanding of ingredient sourcing, storage, and inventory control.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; collaborative team spirit.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Culinary or pastry degree preferred, but equivalent experience welcomed.
