About the Department
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Fire Service Aide.
The purpose of the Fire Service Aide position is to:
- Be the fire department care and maintenance subject matter expert (SME) for turnouts, gloves, boots, and helmets. Provide a high level of safety to fire department frontline members by adhering to NFPA standards for cleaning and safety inspections.
- The Fire Service Aide will manage personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory, make recommendations for equipment purchasing, place orders with vendors, as well as condemning pieces that have been identified as not meet necessary safety standards.
- Arrange for and facilitate the movement of fire department assets between fire and Town facilities as well as vendors outside of the Town of Gilbert. These assets range from documents to small vehicles to aerial fire trucks.
- Support the fire department inventory management process through tracking and maintaining inventory levels.

- Minimum Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma.
- 6 months experience in warehouse environment (PREFERRED).
- 6 months experience handling safety sensitive inventory (PREFERRED).
- Familiarity with Microsoft EXCEL and WORD.
- Licensing/Certifications:
- Obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License within one year of employment.
- Obtain forklift training and certification within two months of employment.
- Turnout Cleaning Certification within two months of employment.
- Knowledge of:
- Advanced cleaning and inspection techniques for specialized fire equipment and gear (PREFERRED).
- Skill in:
- Operating a fork lift and pallet jack and other specialized equipment
- Verbal and written communication to receive and provide instructions
Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Also requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
