The role you'll contribute:
The Surgical Assistant I (SAI) works under supervision of the professional nurse, assisting in performing specific duties and activities for patients of all age groups (may include neonate to geriatric). This includes transportation, assisting with positioning, and patient preparation for procedures as required. Responsible for environmental needs in the department including management of blood and body fluids. Acts as a runner for time sensitive and clinically significant products, such as stat labs and blood. For employees working the operating rooms, participates in OR room turnover ensuring effective and efficient room turnovers. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Ensures safe transport, transfer, and positioning of patients while maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
Participates in patient preparation for procedures and communicates pertinent information to the appropriate personnel.
Monitors cases to ensure infection control measures are met and takes corrective action when necessary.
Maintains knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies needed for procedures to ensure accurate case picking and preparation.
