job Overview
The Resident Assistant Position is a part-time position (part-time hours/week, ten months per year) that oversees all tasks and activities related to the student residential experience at the Amerigo campus location. Resident Assistants work with the campus team to maintain a safe, healthy, and engaging residential atmosphere. Developing strong relationships with the residential students and members of the partner school teams is essential to this position. Resident Assistants must be willing to take a proactive, hands-on approach in working with students to solve problems and conflicts and to offer academic, disciplinary, and moral guidance as needed.
Success in this role will be demonstrated by:
Establishing nurturing and trusting relationships with students
Creating and implementing processes, procedures, and policies related to the academic, residential, supervisory, and safety elements of theprogram
Implementing an organizational focus on delivering exceptional student outcomes and satisfaction
Aligning oneself and the team around a set of organizational values and standards
Anticipated Start Date: The anticipated start date for this position is January 2026. While we are actively recruiting now, the selected candidate will tentatively begin their role at the start of the new year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Resident Assistants will be responsible for implementing all operational elements of the program and overseeing the day-to-day student experience.
On a day-to-day basis, the resident assistant will:
Oversee all aspects of the residential welfare of our students within the construct of the policies of Amerigo and theschool
Cultivate a safe, nurturing, structured, and comfortable environment forstudents
Oversee daily operations of the residentialfacility
Communicate residential issues to the Full-Time Dorm Parents and Director of Campus Operations
Supervise and coordinate evening and weekend organization andactivities
Manage the residential student mealprogram
Promote the image of the residential program within the school and localcommunity
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be a caring, energetic member of the school community with a love of working with people, particularly adolescents. This person will be organized and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Further, this person must be resilient and reliable while demonstrating an ability to build a strong community culture within a global environment. This candidate will demonstrate sound judgment and thoughtful decision-making skills.
Bachelor’s Degree or a third-year student at a 4-year institutionpreferred
Relevant experience in lieu of formal education isacceptable
Excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, andholidays
Experience working within a residential, camp, or youthsetting
Comfort working within a multiculturalcommunity
Familiarity with technology and social media applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Physical Requirements
Occasionally move equipmentweighing50 pounds across campus for various campus needs
Frequently move about inside the residence hall to access different parts of thebuilding
Frequently ascend/descend stairs to access different parts of thebuilding
