Job Description:
Summary
The Apparel, Events and Hospitality Management (AESHM) department in College of Health and Human Sciences is seeking a highly qualified Administrative Assistant II. This position oversees the business operations of the department and provides high-level administrative support to the Department Chair. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day activities, coordinating financial processes, supporting budget planning, and facilitating communication and reporting to ensure smooth and efficient departmental functioning.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic academic environment. This position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting the Department Chair and departmental operations. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative and collegial workplace culture and be adaptable to the evolving needs of the department and its affiliated units.
Example of Duties
Performs a variety of administrative support activities.
Provides financial assistance to the Department Chair.
Manages financial requests from faculty and staff.
Conducts moderately complex research, gathers data, and prepares reports.
Makes travel reservations and itineraries.
Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.
Edits documents for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
