The Department of Neurosurgery, Brain and Spine, at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The position offers a balanced portfolio of clinical practice, translational research, and academic teaching opportunities within a collegial and innovative environment.
Responsibilities
We seek an academic neurosurgeon with fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery and demonstrated expertise in the surgical management of movement disorders, psychiatric disorders, and complex pain. The candidate will perform a full spectrum of stereotactic and functional neurosurgical procedures, including neuromodulation with deep brain stimulation (DBS) encompassing both awake and asleep image- and MER-verified procedures, spinal cord and cranial nerve stimulation, and lesioning with high intensity focused ultrasound, radiofrequency ablation, and open and percutaneous surgical lesioning procedures for pain.
The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, and rehabilitation specialists in a comprehensive neuromodulation program jointly managed by neurology and neurosurgery, and will oversee and be supported by multiple nursing and ancillary medical personnel.
The candidate will have a demonstrated track record of research productivity and will collaborate closely with a recently hired neurophysiologist and other academic departments at USF to develop clinical translational and/or basic research in functional neurosurgery, neuromodulation, or brain network mapping.
The candidate will possess a passion for academic teaching and will have experience mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and growing multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing patient care, research, and education in neuromodulation and restorative neurosurgery.
Practice Details
Primary clinical site: Tampa General Hospital and affiliated USF Health outpatient clinics.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution
- Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS)
- Fellowship training in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery
- Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Florida
