Work location: Rockville, MD (on-site)

Scope: This is a high-impact role that requires a visionary leader with the ability to integrate the critical domains of health care economics, market access and scientific affairs through deep cross-functional collaboration and by managing a multi-disciplinary team. 

 

Job Summary:

The Director of Scientific Advocacy will lead health care economics, market access and scientific affairs at CSI. They will be responsible for elevating the scientific leadership of CSI through these functions via publication and knowledge dissemination, engagement with public and private payors and collaboration with industry coalition. They will lead a team to support the global commercial segments. 

Responsibilities

Health Care Economics

  • Scientific Publications: Develop and execute an aggressive scientific and clinical publication strategy that advances CSI’s market access and government affairs objectives including the recruitment of key institutions and KOLs as partners and authors, the acquisition and analysis of relevant data and the selection of high-impact publication platforms 
  • Knowledge Dissemination: Develop and execute a calendar of presentations at public forums to align key stakeholders around policy agenda by sharing scientific publications and perspectives
  • KOL Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical researchers, healthcare providers and healthcare economics outcomes researchers to mobilize them as authors, speakers, experts and advocates. 

Market Access

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute multi-year market access strategies to optimize product reimbursement, pricing, and adoption, rooted in a firm understanding of the current state and CSI’s commercial goals for each business segment 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to align market access strategies with product development and commercial goals.
  • Data Analysis: Leverage health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) to build compelling value propositions for payers and decision-makers.
  • Partnerships: Collaborate with payers, providers, medical societies, advocates, and other stakeholders to demonstrate product value and secure coverage and reimbursement.

Scientific Affairs

  • Coalition Building: Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry groups, and advocacy organizations
  • Compliance Monitoring: Stay informed about regulatory and compliance developments, ensuring all company activities adhere to applicable laws and standards in its advocacy efforts
  • Policy Development and Advocacy: Represent the company in policy discussions, advocating for favorable regulatory and legislative environments to support innovation and market growth
  • Risk Management: Assess and proactively manage and mitigate potential risks related to governmental policies and regulation
  • Partnerships –  Engage and develop a shared policy agenda with relevant advocacy groups and medical societies including developing a calendar of key events

Travel:

    • Familiarity with global and regional healthcare systems, reimbursement mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.

Skills: Proficiency in HEOR methodologies, policy analysis, and clinical data interpretation

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in market access, governmental affairs, or scientific affairs within the medical device or healthcare industry
  • Demonstrated success in managing high-performing and healthy cross-functional teams 
  • Demonstrated ability to think, plan and act strategically 

Education:

Advanced degree in medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, public health, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $155,000.00 - $210,000.00 annually. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
