Billing Specialist
Job description
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support our pathology billing operations by identifying and resolving missing patient information. This role is critical to ensure clean claims and minimizing denials.
Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review billing queues for missing patient demographics and insurance details
- Contact referring physician offices to obtain missing data (e.g., insurance, address, DOB)
- Update billing systems with accurate patient information
- Collaborate with coding and billing teams to ensure claims are complete and compliant
- Track and report patterns in missing data to improve upstream workflows
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualities:
- Dependable and punctual with strong attention to detail
- Fast learner with ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication skills, especially when working with physician offices
- Comfortable navigating EHR systems and billing platforms
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Team-oriented with a proactive mindset
Preferred Experience:
- 1–2 years in medical billing, preferably in pathology or laboratory services
- Experience working with insurance verification and claim corrections
- Knowledge of HIPAA and payer-specific documentation requirements
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment:
