Beckhoff Automation has an exciting opportunity to join our Engineering Services team as a Technical Support Specialist focused on Automation. In this role, you will provide high-level support and product expertise TwinCAT and related technologies. This includes working with a variety of programming languages and protocols, troubleshooting complex software issues, and collaborating with global teams. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your technical skills while supporting a highly differentiated automation platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level technical support for TwinCAT software and related technologies
- Provide onsite and remote support to customer machine/control systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer software control issues using advanced tools and techniques
- Support a wide range of TwinCAT subcategories including:
- IEC 61131-3 (IL, FBD, LD, SFC, ST, CFC)
- C++, C#, JavaScript, HTML5
- OPC, EAP, Serial, TCP/UDP, FTP, ADS
- Eventlogger, Licensing, Software Protection, IPC Diagnostics, Simulation, Vision
- Prioritize incoming requests:
- This includes but is not limited to escalating problems for other technicians, Product Managers, and Beckhoff Headquarters
- Communicate product functionality and quality issues clearly
- Record, track, and document support requests, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made as well as actions taken through to final resolution
- Participate in on-call support on rotation to triage and troubleshoot after hours service requests
- This includes but is not limited to escalating problems for other technicians, Product Managers, and Beckhoff Headquarters
- Provide customer and internal training
- Contribute to internal knowledge base and wiki
- Mentor and lead team members in resolving large-scale or complex issues
- Continuously expand skillset and adapt to new challenges

Work Location
This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be on-site at our Headquarters, located in Savage, MN, for a minimum of 3 days a week. There is flexibility to work remotely on other business days. This schedule supports collaboration while offering work-life balance.
Travel
This position requires varying travel ranging from 15-20% which may include day trips, overnight stays, and occasional extended travel depending on business needs. Travel may be local, regional, or national. All travel-related expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Technically fluent engineer with at least 5 years’ experience in automation or software support
- Strong understanding of automation technologies and software development
- Experience with object-oriented programming (C#, C++, JavaScript, etc.)
- Familiarity with web technologies (CSS, HTML5) and Windows and Linux OS
- Knowledge of communication protocols (TCP/IP, MQTT, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead team-based problem-solving
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
