We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Project Director with a deep background in industrial electrical construction, specifically within the energy infrastructure sector. This individual must bring a proven track record of managing complex, multi-million-dollar electrical and instrumentation (E&I) projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong emphasis on field execution, project controls, and client interface.
🔧 Ideal Project Experience
The ideal candidate will have led projects in the following environments:
• Compressor Stations: Experience overseeing greenfield and brownfield installations, including power distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), grounding systems, and instrumentation for gas compression and dehydration systems.
• Renewable Gas Plants: Familiarity with biogas or RNG facilities, including integration of electrical systems with process skids, control panels, and SCADA systems.
• Midstream Facilities: Strong understanding of electrical scopes in pipeline pump stations, metering stations, and terminals—especially involving hazardous area classification and compliance with NEC/NFPA standards.
• Gulf Coast Process and Power Facilities: Demonstrated success managing electrical scopes in petrochemical, refining, or power generation environments, including high-voltage installations, switchgear, and complex QA/QC protocols.
• Turnkey EPC Projects: Experience working in design-build or EPC delivery models where the candidate has managed engineering coordination, procurement, and construction execution under a single contract.
📊 Technical & Operational Expertise
We are looking for someone who:
• Has hands-on experience with project controls, including cost tracking, earned value management (EVM), and forecasting.
• Is fluent in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Excel-based cost tracking tools.
• Has worked extensively with project management platforms such as Procore, Viewpoint, or similar ERP systems.
• Understands work packaging and productivity tracking at the field level—ideally having developed and monitored work packs for crews.
• Can deep dive into project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract compliance.
• Has managed remote teams and coordinated across multiple geographies and time zones.
🤝 Leadership & Client-Facing Skills
This role requires a candidate who:
• Has led project teams of engineers, project managers, and field supervisors, mentoring junior staff and enforcing standardized project controls.
• Has served as the primary client interface on large projects, building long-term relationships through performance and transparency.
• Is comfortable negotiating with vendors and subcontractors, managing procurement timelines, and ensuring alignment with project schedules.
• Has a strong grasp of contractual risk, including change order negotiation, claims mitigation, and prime contract compliance.
📍 Other Key Attributes
• Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial electrical construction, with at least 5 years in a senior project management or director-level role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Willingness to travel to project sites across the U.S., with a preference for candidates based in or willing to relocate to Houston, TX.
• A leadership style that is accountable, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
This is not a desk-only role—we are looking for a field-savvy, execution-driven leader who can roll up their sleeves, support their teams, and drive results across complex, high-stakes projects.
