Position Description

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's and drives HR initiatives to both managers and employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance. The HRBP also facilitates and manages employee relations on behalf of CGI. The HRBP will work with the other members of the HR team to work toward operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes information and data necessary to define and discern cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Manages talent needs from recruitment to onboarding.
  • Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual leadership coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR Department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources or related field required.
  • Eight years of professional human resource administration, including two years in employee relations preferred OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws, recruitment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques.
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the function of the position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, intermediate in Excel, and Zoom.
  • Experience with Paycom preferred.
