Description

Director of Club Services

Directs and manages overall daily operations at clubhouses, shared spaces and rural operations with the primary concern for a comprehensive, outcome-driven program and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration. Advises and assists Clubhouse and Rural Directors/Coordinators in the areas of volunteer recruitment and management, advisory council development, facility management, personnel issues, budget development and program development.

These are some of the additional responsibilities of the Director of Club Services: 

  • Provide leadership and direction to Clubhouse Directors/Coordinators and Area Directors in the management of their designated clubhouses or shared space. 
  • Ensure an environment that facilitates achievement of youth development outcomes, with overall responsibility for cleanliness, attractiveness and safety of properties and equipment.
  • Manage financial resources, participating in the development of clubhouses and rurals annual budgets. Control expenditures against budget, making recommendations for expenditures to purchase supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place, overseeing the maintenance and operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with public entities, civic groups and social agencies within the community. Represent the organization and interpret its objectives, standards and programs.
  • Serve as a role model for the youth and teen members and ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of programs areas/activities.
  • Collaborate, establish and maintain organizational program goals that ensure the health and safety of members. 
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program effectiveness on the basis of participation and achievement of stated goals; recommends modifications to improve program performance.
  • Must visit each rural site at a minimum of once a month.

Qualifications


Required Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or certification in a specialty area.  
  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs to youth and teens or a combination of education and relevant management experience. 

Skills & Abilities that make a successful Director of Club Services: 

  • Considerable knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations; in personnel supervision, the recruitment and retention of key personnel; facilities management; and budget management.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive for up to six hours in a vehicle, allowing travel to rural locations. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with a diverse population, and represent BGCTM professionally to the community.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to produce and provide data/reports in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment: 

  • Must be able to perform duties which require walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, and/or bending for long periods of time.  May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer, use the telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to perform surface and deep cleaning appropriately using potentially hazardous cleaners including bleach, as needed.
  • Must be able to lift, move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting or manipulating.
