Job Summary
The Work Experience Teacher/Coordinator is responsible for designing, delivering, and managing the Work Experience Education program (Work Experience M). This course provides students with meaningful, real-world workplace opportunities while they earn elective high school credit. The Teacher/Coordinator connects classroom instruction to supervised employment, internships, or volunteer positions, ensuring students apply academic knowledge in professional contexts while developing employability skills, workplace responsibility, and career readiness.
The role requires strong coordination among students, families, employers, and school staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, support student learning, and foster positive career pathways.

Requirements / Qualifications

. Letter of Reference (at least 2 required)
. Bachelor's degree required. Career Technical Education, or Workforce Development preferred.
. Valid California Single Subject Credential (CTE or related) or Designated Subjects Work Experience Credential required.
. The WEE teacher-coordinator shall possess a valid secondary-level credential, have two years of occupational experience outside the field of education, and have knowledge of the educational purposes, standards, laws, and regulations regarding WEE (EC § 51762 & CCR, T5 § 10075).
. In-depth knowledge of labor laws, workplace safety regulations, and employability frameworks.
. Administrative Credential Preferred
. At least five (5) years of teaching, workforce development, or direct experience supervising work-based learning programs.
. Ability to collaborate and coordinate multiple groups
. Strong data driven decision making
. Able to consistently meet deadlines
. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in program implementation.
. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations, educators, and workforce partners.
. Skilled in digital platforms (Google Workspace, student information systems, electronic work log platforms).
. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to train staff, collaborate with employers, and engage students.
. Effective communication and leadership skills to train staff, collaborate with stakeholders, and advocate for program improvements.
. Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) and other relevant data management tools.
. This position requires regular travel between sites. A valid driver’s license, personal automobile, and proof of insurance.
