Technologist (Emerging Markets)
About the Role
We are building a venture incubation team within Analog Devices, Inc. to identify and create the next generation of high-growth businesses. As a Technologist, you will bridge the gap between market opportunity and technical feasibility. You will evaluate emerging technologies, assess development challenges, and translate customer needs into clear technical requirements that guide venture exploration.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in customer-facing technical roles (field application engineer, solutions engineer, or technical sales engineer) who can combine hands-on technical insight with business context.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Market Intelligence Analysts to evaluate the technical feasibility of emerging opportunities.
- Translate customer pain points and business needs into technical requirements and functional specifications.
- Assess development challenges, integration complexity, scalability, and interoperability of potential solutions.
- Conduct technology landscaping: identify enabling technologies, infrastructure needs, and technical risks.
- Engage with customers, partners, and internal R&D teams to validate assumptions and refine requirements.
- Produce technical feasibility briefs for venture candidates, including architecture sketches, resource needs, and risk analysis.
- Stay current with technology trends, platforms, and standards relevant to opportunity areas (e.g., AI, IoT, energy systems, digital health).
- Support MVP builds by advising venture builders on design trade-offs and technical roadblocks.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4–7 years in a technical role with customer-facing exposure: field application engineer, solutions engineer, sales engineer, or product engineer.
- Well versed in the suite of technologies that ADI offers
- Strong grasp of systems thinking — ability to connect hardware, software, and data components into an end-to-end solution.
- Proven ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (executives, customers, partners).
- Comfort conducting early-stage technology evaluations with incomplete data.
- Hands-on familiarity with product development lifecycles (concept → prototype → production).
- Broad knowledge across multiple technology domains (e.g., cloud, embedded systems, semiconductors, AI/ML, networking, sensors).
- Experience with customer requirement gathering, technical workshops, and solution architecture.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with startup environments, venture incubation, or corporate innovation labs.
- Ability to perform build vs. buy vs. partner assessments.
- Exposure to regulatory and compliance considerations in technology deployment (healthcare, mobility, energy).
- Technical certifications (e.g., domain-specific certifications) a plus.
