Overview:

Provide for the safe uphill transportation for guests and team members by supervising the daily operations of ski lifts and the team members who operate them.  Confers regularly with VP of Operations and other departments, especially lift maintenance, to plan, coordinate and evaluate activities, exchange information, and resolve problems.  As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each team member’s job is to get and keep guests.

Responsibilities:

Hires, motivates, evaluates, and directs team members to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established goals and objectives.  Ensures that all team members receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary. 

Directs the establishment of departmental standards, guidelines and objectives and maintains other administrative processes such as budgeting and onboarding to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of departments and successful achievement of resort goals. 

Establishes and evaluates financial and profitability goals through annual capital and budget plan process. 

Monitors and evaluates operational projects to ensure the successful execution of activities and to improve the effectiveness of the areas of responsibility. 

Represents resort at industry specific functions and local community as necessary to contribute operational expertise and value. 

Maintains and enhances a guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility. 

Maintains schedules in compliance with regulations and authorities having jurisdiction; manages responsibilities in compliance with resort safety policies. 

Maintains current status on legal issues and technological advances which impact the industry; maintains awareness of scope and progress of competition. 

Effective communication skills with all levels of team members, guests and all other outside contacts. 

Ability to delegate responsibility, motivate and lead direct reports to achieve goals and objectives. 

Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations. 

Understanding of corporate and resort specific policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Plan, supervise and coordinate daily lift operations by exercising full supervisory authority over approximately 75 team members.  Planning and conducting departmental meetings and coordinating activities. 

Follow up on training of team members by assigning and checking work, and resolving problems. 

Monitors weather conditions and general surroundings by inspecting all lifts on a regular basis. 

Provides for safe and efficient lift operations by ensuring compliance with established company policies and procedures and requirements. 

Supervise and assist with daily openings and closings by providing transportation for team members to work sites; and preparation of ramps, closing and similar tasks. 

Prepares for and supervises emergency operations by training and evaluating operators on a continual basis. 

Deals with specific problems such as break downs and equipment malfunctions of lifts by initiating emergency established operational procedures. 

Provides superior service to our guests by following Resort Etiquette Guidelines while interacting with guests.  Respond to all guests and employees in a courteous, efficient manner. 

Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and team members; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions. 

Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate VP of Operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Loon Mountain Resort guests at all times. 

Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. 

Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. 

Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures. 

Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others. 

Drive in accordance with the law and Loon Mountain Resort policies.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises approximately 75 team members in the Lift Operations Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills are required.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of unanticipated events.   Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Resort Certification for all necessary equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  The team member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places.  The team member could occasionally be exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud depending on the location.
