SUMMARY:

This position will provide Safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the plant s Safety continuous improvement efforts. As an integral member of the Plant Management Team this position will support and advise site management with regard to the Safety Management system.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a proactive local safety strategy to ensure sustainable, healthy, and safe plant operations.

  • Enhance and consistently implement new safety programs within a team environment.

  • Work to eliminate, prevent, or reduce safety, health, and medical issues.

  • Foster a safety culture that aligns with Tyson Foods' goals and behaviors.

  • Act as a change agent to share best practices within the facility.

Duties:

  • Direct and recommend new safety programs to minimize company losses due to accidents.

  • Measure the effectiveness of safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Tyson Foods Ergonomic program.

  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions for OSHA compliance.

  • Maintain OSHA files and support documents.

  • Accompany OSHA inspectors during plant inspections.

  • Regularly inspect plant operations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, reporting potential violations and recommending corrections.

  • Analyze accident statistics to establish necessary precautions and changes for plant safety.

  • Communicate safety policy and procedure changes to management.

  • Review and update health and safety policies, procedures, and practices annually or as needed.

  • Conduct safety inspections and procedural audits, taking immediate corrective action if required.

  • Review all safety areas, determine causes, identify corrective actions, and conduct training in ergonomics, emergency response, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment.

  • Investigate safety-related incidents and complete necessary reports for insurance carriers, risk management systems, and corporate safety office.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety program implementation.

  • Ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and audits.

  • Excellent communication and training skills.

  • Proficient in analyzing accident statistics and implementing corrective actions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or Industrial Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: 3 plus years of progressive experience in sustainability management preferred. Strong knowledge of safety regulations OSHA hazard communications accident investigation and safety training methods . Knowledge of industry best practice regarding safety and environmental approaches with PSM RMP safety practices.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.

Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public. Special Skills: Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
