Position Summary
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and updating patient medical records and health information in compliance with privacy regulations. This role ensures the accuracy, security, and accessibility of medical records while collaborating with staff, patients, and healthcare professionals to fulfill requests for medical documentation.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain patients' medical records and health information.
- Communicate with Stonebridge staff, patients, psychologists, and psychological assistants to coordinate records management.
- Process and respond to requests for information and documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Update and review medical records by tracking outstanding documents and notifying providers of deficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and privacy policies to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records for off-site storage and retrieval as needed.
- Provide timely updates to the Supervisor regarding outstanding records and documentation requests.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in health information management is preferred.
- Prior experience in medical records management or healthcare administration preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in office technology.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and administrative staff.
- Experience with data encryption and secure record management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. for document handling and storage.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Ability to work in an office environment and retrieve records from various storage locations.
