MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree or higher with proper certification in School Social Work, School Counseling or School Psychology as required by the Professional Standards Commission. Three or more years as an educator. Must have a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties of Cherokee County Board of Education and an acceptable motor vehicle record as determined by the District.
GOAL
Facilitate the implementation of the District’s resources and support services through the support of Principals, Counselors, Social Workers, Nurses, Teachers, and Support Staff. Serve as liaison between community partners, social workers, students and families.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as home, school, and community liaison for students and families so students can fully benefit from educational opportunities and achieve academic success.
- Serve as facilitators on the Crisis Response and Prevention Team.
- Coordinate with outside agencies to provide interventions and supports for students.
- Contribute to and support efforts for positive behavior plans at the ES, MS, and HS levels.
- Contribute to and support the efforts of Tier I, II, and III student support services, utilizing research-based interventions.
- Identify and implement best practice models to support at-risk students.
- Support District initiatives and interventions related to emotional, behavioral and mental health for educational progress.
- Utilize research-based and technically-sound best practices to drive decision-making in support of and in collaboration with school-
based leaders to address the wellness of students in the District. - Review school-wide and district-wide assessment and survey data to assist in implementing school supports and best practices.
- Serve as a District liaison for district wide wellness initiatives.
- Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
- Perform other duties as allowable by Program.
