POSITION SUMMARY 

The School Support Officer plays a key role in advancing school leadership effectiveness by supporting the Deputy of Schools in evaluating, coaching, and developing Principals and Vice Principals. This position ensures rigorous and accurate evaluations, supports school improvement efforts, and helps drive high-quality professional development across the district. The School Support Officer also provides leadership and oversight to Lead Educators and supports strategic initiatives aligned with student achievement and instructional excellence. 

  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  • Oversee the integrity, quality, and consistency of student, staff, and programmatic data across the district 
  • Lead the collection, validation, and submission of all required state and federal reports (e.g. PEIMS, TSDS, PBMAS, accountability, civil rights, etc.) 
  • Monitor and resolve data validation errors, reconciliation issues, and audit findings 
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce data standards, business rules, coding guidelines, and procedural documentation 
  • Serve as liaison with TEA, ESCs, and other external agencies; interpret updates in state/federal reporting requirements and disseminate changes to relevant staff 
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with registrars, campus data clerks, special programs, HR, business office, and curriculum staff to ensure aligned data practices 
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing professional development on data coding, compliance, and reporting for campus and central office personnel 
  • Conduct internal audits, spot-checks, and data reviews (e.g. attendance, enrollment, discipline, course coding, leavers) to ensure compliance with TEA and federal laws 
  • Create dashboards, metrics, and visualizations to monitor data quality, district trends, early warning indicators, and compliance status 
  • Produce regular reports and analyses for district leadership, school boards, and stakeholders showing data accuracy, trends, and compliance risk areas 
  • Support the registrar / records office in transcript evaluation, transfer credit coding, Texas Records Exchange (TREx), graduation audit, and archival records in line with state policy 
  • Facilitate coordination across systems (SIS, HRIS, finance, assessment systems) to ensure proper data integration, security, and alignment 
  • Establish and manage a calendar of reporting deadlines, submission windows, verification periods, and error resolution cycles 
  • Lead or contribute to corrective action plans, remediation efforts, and root cause analyses for recurring data integrity issues 
  • Participate in cross-functional teams (e.g. curriculum, assessment, finance) to integrate compliance into district initiatives 
  • Maintain confidentiality, data security, and appropriate access controls for sensitive student and staff information 
  • Stay current on federal and state legal/regulatory changes affecting education data (FERPA, ESSA, state statutes) 
  • All other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master’s degree (Preferred) 
  • Proven success in district leadership. 
  • Deep knowledge of data analysis and quality assurance strategies. 
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate insights into action plans. 
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, parents, and other stakeholders 

 

OHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology. 
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to books, paper, and instructional materials/supplies. 
  • This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, and/or the ability to be mobile.  
  • Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state's department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.
