Family Resource Professional located at Torrington Intermediate School
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the School Principal, the FRP contributes to the efficient operation of the office through secretarial support. No supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicates school information to families (registration materials, fliers, handbooks, test information).
- Provides pertinent information to school/district webmaster.
- Communicates bus transportation information to parents and addresses bus concerns at the building level.
- Maintains student records (attendance, discipline, residency, contact information, test data).
- Coordinates distribution of student records (incoming, outgoing, and transitions between schools).
- Coordinates and prepares reports regarding student data for principals, parents and teachers (report cards, interim reports, standardized testing, attendance, discipline, etc.).
- Answers telephone, handles voicemail messages, forwards information to the appropriate parties.
- Organizes and distributes special education correspondence to parents. (PPT/504 invitations, special education reports etc.).
- Coordinates communications regarding lunch program with parents and the cafeteria manager.
- Coordinates school/PTO meetings and activities.
- Assists with school fundraising activities.
- Coordinates school-wide events, as needed (school pictures, cultural day, food drives etc.).
- Manages the school calendar (meetings, building events, and activities).
- Processes assignment requests due to illness or other excused absences.
- Assists staff on field trip preparation (forms, communications, permission slips etc.).
- Assists secretary with walk-in traffic and greets visitors (students, parents, and community).
- Performs other duties as appropriate and required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Good communication skills
Terms of Employment: 10-month work year, 195 days, 40 hours per week
