Position: Paraprofessional Aide (Para I) - CIS - 2025-2026 School Year (Replacement due to Resignation)
Reports To: Building Principals
Employment Status: Classified, 185 days
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree preferred
Demonstrated ability to apply positive behavior interventions, and model implementation of the interventions to staff
Ability to regulate self control during stressful situations
Willing and able to participate in in-service training
Demonstrated ability in working with students in formal and informal situations and show evidence of successful work experience
Eligible to obtain a State Paraprofessional Aide License
General Duties: To assist the teacher in achieving teaching social emotional skills objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the social emotional skill levels of the class as a whole. The aide will accomplish this goal under the direction of the behavior management specialist, classroom teacher and the supervision of the building principal.
Specific Performance Duties:
Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of self regulation
Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing positive behavior supports based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
Alerts the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student
Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers
Participates in Inservice training programs as assigned
Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
Performs other job related duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or designee
Administers medications to students consistent with District policies and student IEPs
Assists students with personal health needs such as feeding, walking, etc.
Accompanies student to inclusion classes, as needed
Assists in classroom documentation
Participate in daily meeting with students, behavior specialist, teacher, or principal to review student data and response to behavioral interventions
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of support services personnel.
